The historic Athenaeum is finally getting a new neighbor.
Chase Development Inc. is planning to build a mixed-use project with up to 70 apartments, more than 10,000 square feet of retail and a 229-car garage on a parking lot next to the Athenaeum at Michigan and East streets. The plan comes about 15 years after the Athenaeum Foundation acquired the parking lot and began pursuing development.

Downtown residential real estate broker Joe Everhart sells a lot of homes.
But lately, many of his listings have been changing hands at a quicker clip than they might have a few years ago. He even had a $1.6 million house at 624 E. North St. in the downtown Lockerbie Square neighborhood under contract within a week of its hitting the market.
